The Best Picks from This Year’s Nordstrom Sale, Cus it’s a Recession, Baby!

You know, the Nordstrom sale has been getting a lot of heat the last couple years. What once was a veritable influencer-retailer orgy has turned into a scorned lover telenovela playing out on social media. So, how did a once beloved annual capitalistic smorgasbord turn into a chorus of influencers telling you not to spend money you don’t have just because something is 15% off? No, they didn’t all read a new Suze Orman book under the pen-name “Colleen Hoover.” Jesus, what is it about this author????? Obviously I refuse to read, but even I know who she is, and I’m getting real sick of her shit.

Nope, influencers didn’t all wake up all Grinch-Who-Stole-Christmas’d one day with hearts three times their size; indeed, they realized their commissions would be a third of their size.

When the Nordstrom sale first launched, influencers were making as much as 30% commission on that dumb fucking shearling bomber they told you was a “staple” in your 2018 wardrobe. Now, they’re lucky to make 3% on the same “will be part of the donate pile in the next two years” stuff. And thus, the motivation for Ingrid the Influencer to flood your eyeballs with Nordy content waned.

Despite the very self-serving motivation behind why you’re seeing and hearing influencers do less to promote the Nordstrom sale, it doesn’t undermine the spirit of the idea that you shouldn’t buy something merely because it’s on sale! Of course not! You should buy something because there’s a hole in your heart from an unspecified early childhood trauma that only a microcurrent facial toning device can fill!

Today, I’m rounding up the things I either personally own and love or have my eye on (whether for myself or as gifts for the holidays) that IF you were so inclined to make a purchase of at some point, now would be an opportune time and place to do so, because if you can save money on something you were already planning to by, why wouldn’t you? It’s a global recession’s world, baby! We’re just living, laughing, loving in it!

• NuFace Mini Starter Kit, $139 (normally $209 - 35% savings)
  I’m linking both versions of the NuFace, yes. Personally, I plan on getting the Trinity because I’m older and want the attachments that the Trinity allows for, but if you’re under 35, this would be an excellent device to start with.

  See above. This is a fantastic deal at over 40% off.

• T3 Airluxe Hair dryer, $133.99 (normally $199.99 - 33% savings)
  This is the hair dryer I bought when 8 inches of my hair broke off in 2020 (I’m doing a post next week to fully detail this) and I absolutely love it.

• T3 Luxe Brush Set, $67 (normally $100 - 33% savings)
  Okay, I’ll just say it - I’m a T3 girlie. I just love their shit. I have the round brush and let me tell you, the way it glides through my hand as I do a blowout MATTERS. A single round brush goes for around $40, so this set seems like a great value, especially if you have a kid with a different texture hair that you’re on the hook for styling.

• T3 Lucea 1 Inch Styling Iron, $113.90 (normally $169.99 - 33% savings)
  So, I have basically this flat iron, except I got mine at Costco, so I have the T3 Costco Styling Iron. I can’t imagine they’re not the same, except I only spend $69 on mine. SORRY I CAN’T LINK TO COSTCO! Plus, I never saw it online. Idk what happened, but I didn’t ask questions and neither should you! If you need a new flat iron, get this one.

  I know shilling a BF Dreams blanket makes me a cliché, Katie, GET OVER IT!!! But these things are iconic. Not “full retail” iconic, but pretty damn close. I only ever buy these on sale and 90% of the blankets I’ve purchased have been gifts, so this is a great time to grab one (or 3) to have on hand for your mom, sister-in-law, or over-worked-over-burdened-under-paid teacher that puts up with your horrible kid at the end of the year! This particular style is solid and comes in neutral colors making it a really versatile gift idea.

  See above, this one is just printed and I guess more expensive because of it???

  God damn, I need to just bite the bullet and buy one of these for myself. I think I’ve included it in like 2 other gift guides AND I’VE ONLY BEEN BLOGGING FOR 3 MONTHS!!

• Green Pan Frying Pan Set, $99 (normally $149.99 - 30% savings)
  Pretty much everyone needs a fresh set of frying pans every other year or so. Green Pan is really good, and you obviously need gold-handled cookware!

• Marble Lazy Susan, $59.90 (normally $89 - 33% savings)
  This is the kind of thing I always look at but never buy because it feels so indulgent. But on sale and it feels a little easier to justify. And given as a gift?! Well, you just won best gift giver!

• Coffee Mug & Warmer, $65.99 (normally $88 - 25% savings)
  Personally, I don’t get the appeal of drinking hot beverages. I’d like to keep my tastebuds, thank you. But I know lots of people drink coffee in the morning, so mugs that stay hot just makes sense in the mind of me, a person who needs a 3:1 ratio of ice to drink. I love the Ember mug, but at $100 and up, it feels pricey even as a gift. This is a great savings for yourself or the other hot beverage drinkers in your life.

  I mean, it’s an apron.

• Viking Roasting Pan, $169.99 (normally $219.99 - 33% savings)
  I feel like most people don’t own a roasting pan? Is that a wrong assumption? Idk, but I can say with certainty most people don’t own a gold-handled roasting pan. This would go beautifully with the gold handled frying pans I linked above…just sayin’.
